Why is Georgia one of the Southeast's strongest MCA markets?
Georgia combines a large small business base with fast growth and a dense freight economy. The SBA Office of Advocacy's 2025 Small Business Profile counts 1,374,972 small businesses in the state, 99.7% of all firms, employing 1.8 million people, or 42.5% of private-sector workers.
Growth is the standout. Between March 2023 and March 2024, Georgia establishments recorded a net gain of 39,195 jobs, while small businesses alone gained 348,076 jobs and lost 302,126, a net increase of 45,950. Small firms grew faster than the economy around them, which is exactly the stage when owners hire, buy equipment, take on bigger jobs and look for working capital.
About 199,000 Georgia small businesses have employees. The biggest employer groups are retail, with about 22,700 small employers, other services such as salons and auto repair, with about 22,100, construction with about 21,200, and healthcare with about 20,800. Accommodation and food services adds more than 17,300 small employers. Georgia small firms also exported $13.7 billion in goods in 2023, and 87.4% of the state's identified exporters were small businesses.
Metro Atlanta and the rest of Georgia
Metro Atlanta produces most Georgia MCA demand, but the rest of the state has distinct, fundable markets of its own.
Metro Atlanta
The Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell metro stretches across more than two dozen counties, from Cobb, Gwinnett and North Fulton to Clayton, Henry and DeKalb. It holds a huge concentration of salons and barbershops, restaurants, medical practices, contractors, auto shops, logistics firms and film and event service vendors. The area around Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, one of the busiest passenger airports in the world, supports freight forwarders, warehouses and hospitality businesses.
Savannah and the coast
Savannah pairs a large container port with a strong tourism economy. Trucking companies, drayage carriers, warehouse operators and customs-related businesses work alongside restaurants, inns and tour operators in the historic district and on Tybee Island.
Augusta, Columbus and Macon
Augusta has a medical, military and manufacturing base, and the Masters Tournament each April brings one of the most intense short hospitality peaks in the country. Columbus is anchored by its Army installation and manufacturing. Macon sits at the crossroads of Interstates 75 and 16 with logistics and healthcare activity.
Athens, North Georgia and the farm belt
Athens rides university and football-season traffic. Dalton, in Northwest Georgia, is a center of carpet and flooring manufacturing with a network of suppliers and haulers. Gainesville is a poultry processing hub, and South Georgia's farm economy around Albany, Tifton, Valdosta and Vidalia supports equipment dealers, repair shops, haulers and rural retailers.
Which Georgia industries need merchant cash advances?
Georgia MCA demand is strongest in freight, trades, personal services and food service. A merchant cash advance, a purchase of a share of future receivables rather than a loan, suits owners whose revenue is dependable but arrives after their costs.
| Industry | Georgia small firms (SBA 2025) | Why they seek advances |
|---|---|---|
| Transportation and warehousing | 155,218 (about 7,700 with employees) | Fuel, repairs, insurance and equipment between broker and shipper payments |
| Construction | 145,100 (about 21,200 with employees) | Materials and crews on fast-growing suburban and industrial projects |
| Other services, including salons and auto repair | 182,664 (about 22,100 with employees) | Renovations, equipment, new chairs or bays, inventory |
| Retail trade | 104,327 (about 22,700 with employees) | Holiday and back-to-school inventory |
| Health care and social assistance | 103,391 (about 20,800 with employees) | Payroll and equipment while insurance claims are paid |
| Accommodation and food services | 48,600 (about 17,300 with employees) | Build-outs, second locations, event and football-season staffing |
Freight deserves special attention. The Georgia Ports Authority handled about 5.7 million twenty-foot equivalent units in fiscal 2025, up 8.6% from the prior year and its second-busiest year on record. That volume moves inland by truck and rail along Interstates 16, 75, 85 and 95, sustaining thousands of small carriers. What does Georgia's Commercial Financing Disclosure Law require?
Georgia regulates disclosures for merchant cash advances. Senate Bill 90, signed in May 2023, added a commercial financing disclosure law to Georgia's Fair Business Practices Act at O.C.G.A. section 10-1-393.18 and following sections. It took effect January 1, 2024. As of 2026, the main points in general terms are:
| Topic | General rule |
|---|---|
| Covered products | Closed-end and open-end commercial financing and accounts receivable purchase transactions, which include merchant cash advances. |
| Threshold | Transactions of $500,000 or less. |
| Timing | Prescribed disclosures must be provided before the transaction is consummated. |
| Content | Similar in structure to Florida's law: items such as the total amount of financing, the amount disbursed, the total cost, the total repayment amount, payment method and frequency, and prepayment terms. |
| Penalties | Reported statutory penalties of $500 per violation, up to $20,000 in aggregate, and $1,000 per violation, up to $50,000, after notice or for repeat violations. |
| Private lawsuits | Legal commentary reports that the law does not create a private right of action for disclosure violations. |
For funders working the whole Southeast, Georgia and Florida now both require disclosures on deals of $500,000 or less, while neighboring Alabama has no comparable statute that we are aware of. The practical answer is a disclosure workflow keyed to the merchant's location: when a Georgia business reaches the offer stage, your system should generate the Georgia disclosure automatically, using the deal terms already in your CRM. Building that once saves every rep from improvising, and it keeps disclosures consistent when volume grows.
The enrolled bill also revised provisions on brokers and their client relationships. If you broker or refer Georgia merchants, have counsel review your fee practices and agreements. Check the current statute for exemptions and exact wording. Treat this as a general overview rather than legal advice, and have Georgia counsel confirm how it applies to you.
Seasons and events that move Georgia cash flow
Georgia's cash-flow calendar is driven as much by events and freight cycles as by weather. Timing outreach to these patterns improves contact rates and offer quality.
- Freight peaks: import volumes typically build in late summer and fall ahead of the holiday season, which keeps carriers and warehouses busy and raises fuel and labor costs before payments catch up.
- The Masters: Augusta restaurants, rental-home owners, caterers and transportation businesses prepare for early April months in advance.
- College football: Athens and other college towns see heavy fall weekends, and Atlanta hosts major bowl and championship games.
- Film and events: production and event work in metro Atlanta creates bursts of demand for caterers, equipment rental, security and transportation vendors.
- Farm cycles: South Georgia equipment, hauling and ag-service businesses spend ahead of spring planting and earn through the summer and fall harvest.
- Summer heat and storms: HVAC and roofing contractors peak in summer, and tropical storms can affect the coast from June through November.
Running a Georgia MCA campaign with LoanLeads.io
Start with metro Atlanta, prove your numbers, then expand. Georgia's volume is large enough to test lead types and industries side by side.
- Metro Atlanta first. Buy real-time exclusive MCA leads with a $20,000 monthly revenue floor and at least 12 months in business. Many Atlanta merchants hear from several funders quickly, so call within minutes.
- Add regional campaigns. Run Savannah, Augusta, Columbus and Macon as separate segments so you can see which fund.
- Use aged leads for reach. Aged MCA leads cover smaller cities and rural Georgia at a lower cost per record. One MCA funder funded five deals, including a $600,000 deal and a $52,000 deal, from a single LoanLeads.io aged order. Results vary.
- Consider live transfers. Live transfers route a merchant who is already on the phone to your rep, which helps lean teams.
- Build compliance into the flow. Have your Georgia disclosure ready before the merchant is ready to sign, keep the TCPA consent record that comes with each lead, and describe the advance as a purchase of receivables, never a loan.
Georgia is on Eastern Time. Contractors and carriers answer early, salon owners between appointments in the late morning, and restaurant owners in the mid-afternoon. Measure cost per funded deal, and book a call to scope your first order.

“Yeah, I'm really impressed with the aged.”
“My team is very happy with your leads. So that's why I want to personally call and inform you that. We'll do the same mix, 50-50, but we'll just double the volume. I'm happy. My team is happy. They don't complain about leads.”
Questions buyers ask
How many small businesses are in Georgia?
The SBA Office of Advocacy's 2025 Small Business Profile counts about 1.4 million small businesses in Georgia (1,374,972), 99.7% of all firms. They employ 1.8 million people, or 42.5% of private-sector employees. About 199,000 of them have employees, the group most merchant cash advance programs target.
Does Georgia regulate merchant cash advances?
Yes. Georgia's Commercial Financing Disclosure Law, enacted as SB 90, requires providers to give prescribed disclosures before consummating commercial financing transactions of $500,000 or less, including accounts receivable purchase transactions such as merchant cash advances. It took effect January 1, 2024. Confirm current requirements and exemptions with Georgia counsel.
What are the penalties under Georgia's disclosure law?
Legal summaries of SB 90 report statutory penalties of $500 per violation, capped at $20,000 in aggregate, and $1,000 per violation, capped at $50,000, for repeat violations or violations after notice. Commentary also reports there is no private right of action. Verify the current statute text with counsel before relying on these figures.
Which Georgia cities produce the most MCA leads?
Metro Atlanta produces the large majority, especially Fulton, Gwinnett, Cobb, DeKalb and Clayton counties. Savannah, Augusta, Columbus, Macon, Athens, Gainesville and Dalton add meaningful volume. LoanLeads.io lets you target specific metros or buy statewide, and running regions separately makes results easier to read.
Are Georgia trucking companies good MCA prospects?
Many are. Georgia has 155,218 small transportation and warehousing firms, and freight from the Port of Savannah and Atlanta's distribution centers keeps carriers busy. Owner-operators and small fleets need cash for fuel, repairs and insurance between payments. Weekly remittance often fits their cash cycle better than daily debits.
What time zone should I use for Georgia merchants?
Georgia sits entirely in the Eastern time zone, and solicitation calls should stay inside the federal window of 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. local time. Contractors and carriers tend to answer early, salon owners between appointments, and restaurant owners in the lull between lunch and dinner.
Can I buy aged MCA leads for Georgia?
Yes. Aged leads cost less per record because the merchant inquired weeks or months ago. They work well for statewide coverage and follow-up campaigns timed to Georgia's seasons, such as pre-Masters in Augusta, pre-harvest in South Georgia or the fall freight peak. Many buyers pair them with real-time leads in metro Atlanta.
How do I start a Georgia MCA lead order?
Book a call or apply as a buyer, share your criteria for revenue, time in business, credit range and industries, and choose real-time, aged or live transfer leads. LoanLeads.io sets up delivery to your CRM and starts with a small test order, so you can measure funded deals before you scale.
