Exclusive MCA Leads: Are They Worth $60?

The break-even math on exclusive MCA leads at $60 versus shared slots at $35, $25 and $15: how much better exclusive needs to close, when it pays, and how to test it.

Short answer

Exclusive MCA leads are worth $60 when they close at least about 1.7 times as often as a $35 shared lead, 2.4 times a $25 lead or 4 times a $15 lead, because that is where cost per funded deal evens out. LoanLeads.io sells exclusive real-time MCA leads at $60, never shared with another company, alongside shared slots at $35, $25 and $15.

What are exclusive MCA leads?

Exclusive MCA leads are merchant inquiries sold to one buyer only. Nobody else gets that merchant's details from the provider, so the only funders calling are ones the merchant contacted on their own. At LoanLeads.io, an exclusive lead is delivered in real time, the moment the merchant submits, and is not shared with any other company.

The alternative is a shared lead, where the same inquiry goes to several buyers. LoanLeads.io runs shared leads on a fixed schedule rather than blasting them to everyone at once:

OptionPriceWhen you get itOther ISOs who get it
Exclusive$60Real timeNone
Shared slot 1$35Real timeOne at 24 hours, one at 48 hours
Shared slot 2$2524 hours after submissionSlot 1 before you, one more at 48 hours
Shared slot 3$1548 hours after submissionTwo ISOs before you

So the real question is not "exclusive or shared?" in the abstract. It is whether exclusivity is worth $25 more than slot 1, $35 more than slot 2, or $45 more than slot 3. Each gap buys something different: against slot 1 you are paying only to keep two later buyers away, while against slot 3 you are also paying for two full days of freshness. For a general comparison of the two models, read exclusive vs shared MCA leads. This post is about the math.

How much better do exclusive MCA leads need to close?

Exclusive leads need to close better by the ratio of the two prices. If an exclusive lead costs 1.7 times as much as a shared one, it must produce funded deals 1.7 times as often to reach the same cost per funded deal. Anything above that ratio, exclusive wins. Anything below, shared wins.

ComparisonPrice ratioExclusive must close at least
Exclusive $60 vs slot 1 $351.71About 1.7 times as often
Exclusive $60 vs slot 2 $252.402.4 times as often
Exclusive $60 vs slot 3 $154.004 times as often

Pack discounts do not change this. LoanLeads.io takes 20% off at 500 leads and 30% off at 1,000 for every real-time option, so a 1,000-lead exclusive pack is $42 a lead against $24.50 for slot 1. The ratio is still 1.71.

The ratios are the honest starting point because they need no assumptions. What you have to estimate is the other side: how much more often exclusive actually closes for your team. That depends on speed, follow-up and deal size, which is why the answer differs between shops.

A worked example: exclusive vs shared at the same budget

Here is an illustration with invented close rates. It is an example of the method, not a prediction of what any lead will do.

Say a shop spends on 150 leads of each type and its funded rates come out like this:

OptionSpend on 150 leadsExample funded rateFunded dealsCost per funded deal
Exclusive at $60$9,0003.0%4.5$2,000
Slot 1 at $35$5,2501.5%2.25$2,333
Slot 3 at $15$2,2500.6%0.9$2,500

In this example exclusive closes twice as often as slot 1, which beats the 1.71 break-even ratio, so it wins on cost per deal. It also beats slot 3, because 3.0% is five times 0.6%, above the ratio of 4.

Now change one assumption. If the exclusive funded rate were 2.4% instead of 3.0%, exclusive would cost $2,500 per funded deal and lose to slot 1. A small change in your team's performance flips the answer. That is the strongest argument for testing with your own team rather than borrowing anyone's rates.

Two more things the table leaves out. First, deal size: if exclusive merchants take larger advances because you set the first offer, the commission per deal is higher too. Second, labor: shared leads need faster, more persistent contact, and closer hours are not free. The cost per funded deal guide shows how to add both.

When are exclusive MCA leads worth the money?

Exclusive leads are usually worth it when your advantage is the first conversation. If you win by setting the terms before anyone else calls, exclusivity protects that advantage.

  • Your deals are large. When the average commission is big, a few extra funded deals cover the price gap many times over.
  • Your team is fast but small. A closer who calls within minutes gets full value from a lead nobody else has. Speed has long been tied to results: research published in Harvard Business Review in 2011 found that firms trying to reach online leads within an hour were nearly seven times as likely to qualify them as firms that waited even one hour longer. A small team cannot win dialing races against larger shops, so removing the race helps.
  • You sell on relationship and renewals. A merchant who funds with you, and only heard from you, is easier to renew later. Our MCA renewal pipeline guide covers how that compounds.
  • You care how the merchant experiences the first call. One call about one request is a better start than five calls in an hour.

When are shared slots the better buy?

Shared slots are the better buy when your edge is volume, persistence or price rather than being first.

  • You have a dialer and several agents. Teams that work every lead hard can do well on slot 2 and slot 3, where the price assumes some merchants have already been contacted.
  • Your offer competes well. If your funders approve files others decline, being second or third to call matters less. The merchant who was turned down at 24 hours is still looking at 48.
  • Your budget is tight. 150 slot 3 leads cost $2,250 against $9,000 for exclusive. A smaller shop can learn a lot from the cheaper order.
  • Your average deal is small. Lower commissions need lower cost per funded deal, which often points to cheaper leads.

The schedule matters here. On LoanLeads.io's shared slots, a lead reaches at most three ISOs over 48 hours, and slot 1 still arrives in real time. That is a different product from a lead sent to many buyers at the same second.

What does exclusivity not protect you from?

Exclusivity stops the provider from selling the same inquiry to anyone else. It does not stop the merchant from shopping. That gap is where many buyers overestimate what $60 buys.

  • The merchant may have applied elsewhere. An owner who needs capital often fills out more than one form on the same day. Your exclusive lead can still face competition from funders the merchant found independently.
  • Slow follow-up wastes it. An exclusive lead called four hours later has lost most of what made it exclusive. If your team cannot respond within minutes during business hours, you are paying for a head start you do not use.
  • Exclusivity does not change fit. A merchant below your funders' revenue floor is unfundable whether one buyer or three received the lead. Filters, not exclusivity, decide fit.
  • It does not replace a good offer. If your approval terms are weaker than what the merchant can get elsewhere, being first only delays the loss.

None of this argues against exclusive leads. It argues for buying them only when your speed, your filters and your funders are ready to make the head start count.

How should you test exclusive vs shared MCA leads?

Run both at the same time with the same filters, the same states and the same callers, and tag each source separately. Then compare cost per funded deal after enough time for deals to close.

  1. Buy matched orders. For example, a 150-lead exclusive pack and a 150-lead slot 1 pack, with identical filters.
  2. Route them to the same team. If your best closer gets all the exclusives, you are testing the closer, not the lead.
  3. Use one contact rule for both. Same number of attempts over the same days.
  4. Log outcomes per lead. Contacted, application received, submitted, approved, funded, and advance amount.
  5. Decide with the ratio. Divide the exclusive funded rate by the shared funded rate and compare it with 1.71.

Some buyers end up splitting their budget instead of picking one. That is what Joseph Antony did. Seven days into buying from LoanLeads.io, he reported a happy team and kept his split while doubling the order:

"So we'll do the same mix, 50-50, but we'll just double the volume. I'm happy. My team is happy." Joseph Antony, MCA lead buyer

A mix gives you a running comparison, so you can shift budget toward whichever option is winning that month. Review the split every few weeks. Seasons change merchant demand, new hires change your speed, and a funder who tightens guidelines changes which merchants you can place. The ratio that favored exclusive in spring may not hold in autumn, and the only way to know is to keep both sources tagged and keep reading the numbers.

FAQ

Questions on this topic

Are exclusive MCA leads really exclusive?

They should be. Ask the provider to confirm in writing that an exclusive lead is not sold to any other company. At LoanLeads.io, exclusive real-time MCA leads are not shared with any other company and are delivered the moment the merchant submits. The merchant may still contact other funders on their own, which no provider controls.

How much do exclusive MCA leads cost?

Prices vary by provider, filters and volume. LoanLeads.io publishes its price: $60 per exclusive real-time MCA lead in a 150 pack, $48 in a 500 pack (20% off) and $42 in a 1,000 pack (30% off). Every online order is paid upfront and carries a 4% processing fee.

Do exclusive MCA leads close better than shared leads?

Usually, because no other buyer from the same source is calling. But how much better varies by team. The question that matters is whether they close better by more than the price ratio, which is about 1.7 against a $35 shared lead. Only your own matched test can answer that for your shop.

Is a shared MCA lead the same as a resold lead?

Not necessarily. A shared lead is sold to a set number of buyers under known rules. At LoanLeads.io, a shared lead reaches at most three ISOs on a fixed schedule over 48 hours. A resold lead may have passed through many hands with no clear record of how many buyers received it.

Should a new ISO buy exclusive MCA leads?

Only if the new ISO can call within minutes and has funders ready to place the files. Many new shops start with shared slots or aged leads to learn their numbers at lower cost, then add exclusives once they know their close rate. The break-even ratio tells you when the switch makes sense.

Do exclusive MCA leads come with replacements?

Yes, on the same terms as other real-time orders at LoanLeads.io. You have 3 days to flag a dead or invalid phone, a repeat of a lead sent in the past 30 days, a merchant who denies applying, or a lead from outside your states. Replacement decisions are at the provider's discretion, and fees are non-refundable.
